Prague Castle Czech Republic

If you plan on visiting Prague you must take the time to see the incredible prague castle.  This amazing castle has a history dating back to the ninth century and is definitely worth the trip.  The Guiness Book of World Records lists the prague castle as the “biggest, ancient castle.”

The prague castle offers free admission to view the gardens and they sell tickets to view the other sections of the castle.  If you stop by the information desk, you can arrange a guided tour in your language.  The changing of the guards happens every hour with a more elaborate ceremony at noon.  The prague castle state rooms are only available for viewing two days a year but most of the rooms are open for viewing besides a few sections in use for administrative purposes.  The National Gallery offers visitors the chance to view museum exhibitions and ancient Bohemian Art.  The Crown Jewels reside under heavy security in the prague castle but are not available for viewing minus the rare special occasion.  This amazing castle was according to archaeological record was first built up around the year 880.

By the tenth century the prague castle housed heads of state, kings and bishops.  You will be permitted to photograph the interior and exterior of the prague castle but there are no flashes or tripods allowed.  You will not be allowed to photograph the Convent of St. George and The Story of Prague Castle.  The ticket prices and the areas available for tours vary according to age and the time of the year.  Students receive a discount and groups of children may be able to tour for free under certain conditions. You should make a special effort to see the State rooms if given the chance.  These breathtaking halls will be something you will never forget.  The opulence and decoration are beautiful and interesting.  It is a shame they are only open two days a year but hopefully you will make it on one of those days.  Even if there are rooms unavailable for tours there are more than enough to see and enjoy.  From the art to the decor you will be fascinated by what the prague castle has to offer.

This popular attraction is the most oft visited site in Prague and you will see why.  If you like items of religious significance, the Chapel of the Holy Cross has beautiful displays to enjoy.

The mixture of styles from centuries of different owners gives the prague castle a special feel and decor.  You will enjoy all this amazing castle has to offer and will talk about it for years to come and encourage everyone you know to make the trip to the prague castle.
